Pork Prices for January Were Down

MORNING LIVESTOCK OUTLOOK

Pork prices for January were down compared to December. The 5 day pork carcass average has been trading plus and minus of $80.00.  Loins have come off  their lows with an average of 82.92 and Hams average 77.10 with bellies plus and minus 90.00. Compared to last week, when daily movement averaged above 400 loads/day, so far this week daily movement of pork is about 100 loads less per day.

Wednesday, traders ignored a positive Cattle Inventory report and traded the negative boxed beef market.  From December 30th to January 30th steer weights have had  big gains as well as the grading percent going up.
