Monday’s Volume Was Moderate

MORNING LIVESTOCK FUTURES OUTLOOK

LIVE CATTLE

Compared to last week’s heavy trade volume, Monday’s volume was moderate. Packers had to fight to find available cattle last week. It showed Friday how they had to pay up  more for cattle above Thursday’s higher market. Kill for a Monday, starting out light.

 

LEAN HOGS

On light movement Monday morning, the 5 day pork carcass average gained $2.12. Daily sales had jumps on Hams, up $10.01 and Bellies up $36.33.   Afternoon pork sales backed off from early sales but remained strong with the 5 day pork carcass up 4.34 with gains on Hams up 3.78 and Bellies up 24.51. Total sales for the 4 day were under 300 loads.
