MORNING LIVESTOCK FUTURES OUTLOOK
LIVE CATTLE
With the outlook for more cattle in the feedlots, traders aren’t willing to buy futures but with nearby futures below cash, they aren’t willing sellers. Trade volume was light Thursday. For the near term, look for futures to trade slowly lower. Cash cattle prices last week were steady to slightly weaker in the Midwest and in the Southwest mostly steady. Buying activity was light as packers were buying for the short Labor Day week.
LEAN HOGS
Lean Hog futures were lower Wednesday on light volume. Traders are predominately spreading and maintaining bear spreads from December 2024 through April 2025.
