Avian Flu News Has LC Lower

MORNING LIVESTOCK FUTURES OUTLOOK

LIVE CATTLE

Live Cattle trade volume was light on Monday.  News of Avian Flu  in pasteurized milk is being used as a reason for the lower futures prices.  So far, there has been no spread into beef cattle or meat from dairy cows going slaughter.  With well over a month before June Live Cattle first notice day, with speculative spreading it is possible traders will continue pushing Live Cattle lower during the first half of May.

LEAN HOGS

Trade volume was moderately active Monday as Lean hogs closed down unchanged to slightly lower on summer hogs and slightly higher on fall and into 2025.  Traders were bull spreading summer hogs and buying hogs and selling cattle.
