MORNING LIVESTOCK FUTURES OUTLOOK
CATTLE COMPLEX
As of Thursday there are 3 days before June live cattle first notice day. The difference between cash and futures is wide.
With the new world screwworm now in the US, it will be unlikely China will buy US beef.
Some traders believe the screwworm will limit beef consumption however, people in the US have been eating beef from cattle in Mexico and Mexico has increased sales in 2026.
LEAN HOG COMPLEX
Traders were buying hogs and selling cattle in the last session.
Cash pork prices have been moving higher faster than lean hogs, putting packers into positive margins. Packers will increase slaughter.
