MORNING LIVESTOCK OUTLOOK
Retail beef demand, lead by the highest priced cuts, looks strong into the holidays. Consumers may be concerned about inflation and/or recession into 2023 but the price increase of boxed beef is showing a different story for the near term.
Unless packers revise slaughter down from Monday at 494,000 hogs, Monday’s kill was the largest one day slaughter back to early 2020 before Covid hit packing plant employees slowing slaughter followed by hog and sow liquidation march through June 2020.
